This is all I know. This and the faint memory of something. Someone.
I don’t remember how I got here. I don’t remember if I have ever been anywhere else. Yet there is this one nagging thought that remains. A thought I can’t quite grasp.
There was something before this. I know it. Something other than dark.
I hear a loud popping sound behind me. I turn to see what, in all of this nothingness, could have caused it.
There is a man here with me now. I can see him and nothing else.
“Damon Memphis, your country needs you.” A smile spreads across his face.
I feel unease.
