The last couple weeks have been quiet on here. That is, of course, because we’ve been working on moving in to our new home, out in the country.
And while I’d love to say that we’re completely settled in, I can say that we’re just down to a few boxes left to unpack and most of the rest of the settling has to do with just getting used to being in a new place and trying to figure out where the heck we unpacked everything to.
And, to be fair, this place is already beginning to feel a lot like home. It’s definitely different. Having to drive 30 minutes to get to our old haunts is certainly something to get used to, but not terrible by any means. Although my wife my debate that fact, considering her daily commute to work is that same 30 minutes.
But, most importantly, in my mind at least, is that we no longer have to make the trek between houses to grab another load of stuff to bring over. In fact, as of yesterday, we’re down to just one house. And that is an amazing relief. Yes, it is hard to say goodbye to a place which has been the backdrop to so many amazing memories, but it’s also exciting to look forward, instead of being focused on just trying to get everything from one place to the next.
And personally, I’m quite excited about having my new office set up so I can get back to writing. It seems that as soon as I began my daily writing routine, we began this process of moving to the new house and my daily writing was brought down to once a week, at best.
But, the routine is coming back to me and I’m starting to see where I can fit the writing in, now that my days aren’t packed with packing or sorting or just figuring out how much stuff I can off load to the dumpster, friends, or the thrift shop.
So, we’re settling in, getting used to this new place, this new life. But things are starting to feel like home already…and that’s a pretty great feeling.
Today’s post is going to be short, simply because I’m really excited to get myself into some fiction (as Agora Files Part 3 is shaping up to be an amazing book already and I keep having to separate myself from writing it to get everything else done).
But I’m here today to tell you that I’m back and I’m ready to get back down to business.
Have fun out there!
