Fat Mogul vs. Being Obnoxious

One of my greatest fears about the idea of being an author is that I could, quite easily, become overly obnoxious.  In fact, even the concept of sharing my blog posts on Facebook just seemed to be something that too many people would see as being this annoying self-serving activity which would cause them to instantly de-friend me merely because I shared what I was up to with them….

Pretty stupid, I know, but Facebook’s abilities for filtering out the trends of your friends that you don’t like is pretty minimal.  It’s not like a conversation where you can just say, hey, I don’t want to talk about that anymore, let’s talk about something else…no, everything they say comes up in your feed…or nothing at all, if you decide to remove them from appearing.

I’d much rather keep my friends amused and all that jazz.

I also try not to ask for help too often, just in life, but also on things like Facebook, Twitter, or here.  It seems that everyone out there is asking for help, whether it’s money for worthwhile charities, donating to a kickstarter, helping move out of a house, or, well…you know…you’ve been asked for help probably fifteen times just this morning.

So, let it be known that I do this quite reluctantly, putting out my request for help. I mean, it’s just a competition, just a friendly little thing that, in the end, might help market my books considerably, but probably won’t mean the difference between life and death or anything quite so dire as that.

But, you know, I’m an author and all that, and I’ve decided that now’s the time.  For this moment, I’ll be obnoxious, annoying, overbearing, and whatever other terms you want to look up in the thesaurus because I’m too lazy to do so myself in order to find that word that’s sitting on the tip of my tongue.

I’m competing.  In fact, I’m not even sure I know how much more I can say about it than that.  The winner gets something of a publishing contract, but ultimately, the winner gets marketing…something I’m in dire need of.

I’m not going to check in on you or anything, and I promise to be only moderately annoying about the whole thing (which goes on for the next 30 days), but I could really use your help, it would mean a lot to me.

Go to this page on the Amazon Scout competition.  Click Nominate Me!.  All you need is an account on Amazon and you’re done.  If the book gets picked for publication, you get a free electronic copy!

That’s right, I mean, this is a win-win situation.  You spent all of about five seconds helping me out, and you’ll get a book out of the deal (you know, in up to 90 days when the thing is finally released).

I also don’t want to get too needy here, but, you know…if you wanted to share it with your friends and ask them to do the same, I definitely wouldn’t be opposed…

Okay, but seriously, I’ll leave it at that (for now).  I’d love you forever and find you and give you hugs and make my wife make cookies for you, if that’s what it takes.

Well…maybe not the cookies…I need those.  But I’ll give you hugs!

For serious though, I’d really appreciate anything you can do to help.

Have fun out there!
