Fat Mogul vs. #LootCrate

Before I begin today, I want to point out the link over on the right (at least for those of you seeing the proper site…who knows about those of you with the mobile version, and if you’re using a feedreader, well, yeah, of course it’s not there).  You can enter to win one of three copies of The Legend of Buddy Hero.  Yeah, that’s right.  I’m promoting the first book in The Defenders Saga as we lead up to the release of the second (which happens on August 1st).

On to the post:

I’ve been watching LootCrate for a while now, having it liked on facebook and being on one of their mailing lists for a few months at least.  The basic premise of it sounded great.  Basically a Woot-esque bag of crap, delivered monthly, and the crap isn’t as crappy.  A grab-bag, if you will, of things that you might actually want, if presented with them in the retail establishments of the world.

Of course, I’m not one who has the time or money to spend on frivolous items for himself.  I do have kids after all.  But, when I saw this month’s theme, Villains, I really couldn’t resist. So, I snuck a purchase in under the wife’s radar…which she immediately noticed of course 😉  And then I sat back and anxiously awaited the arrival of my box of goodies that may or may not have all of the coolest villains ever inside.

It arrived today.

So, I’ll admit that when I got my e-mail yesterday stating that it was on its way, I may have done a little digging for ‘spoilers’ on what might be inside.  So, I wasn’t all that surprised at the interior, but my kids sat and watched me open it in amazement.  I’m pretty sure they want it all…which I suppose I’ll have to pass something off to them.

Anyways, since the unboxing it supposedly one of the best parts of the whole thing (at least for the company, who uses it as a marketing strategy) I figured I might as well take today to share what I nabbed.  Sorry about the picture quality (not really sorry or I’d retake them).  I used my phone as opposed to an actual camera since the house is full of crazy this morning.

All in all, not bad for less than 20 bucks.  I’ll get some use out of the t-shirt for sure and the comic’s a nice addition.  And I’m actually wearing the socks right now…they’re not too bad.  And I’ll definitely watch the documentary.  I love documentaries…even if they’re not about superheroes.

And the inside of the box is pretty cool too:

Of course, now I’ve found out there is a plethora of such companies…maybe if you guys make this post big I can convince my wife to do a compare and contrast of them?  A boy can dream, right 😉
Alright, I’m out.

Have fun out there!
