You know what I love most about being an adult? The fact that I no longer have to beg someone to drive through the puddles on the side of the road. I say this with only the smallest amount of hyperbole as I quite absolutely love driving through puddles with my car, which, for a few days every year I like to consider my own little puddle jumper.
Part of that whole love, however, is probably to do with the fact that the best puddles in Wisconsin happen somewhere around the month of April, as the snow melts and the ground hasn’t quite thawed enough to suck all that water up. You see…I love spring even more than I love driving through puddles. It probably has something to do with the fact that I still haven’t quite adjusted to Wisconsin winters (after being up here for the better part of 2 decades). So, when that sun comes out and I’m actually able to suck up some Vitamin D, my happy face arrives and, well, life feels somewhat normal again.
Of course, this is Wisconsin, which means we’re still not done with the snow or the whole being stuck inside thing quite yet, but for a couple days we get to see what Spring will be like when it finally comes (probably sometime in June 😉 ) But that doesn’t matter today, because today is the day after I got to be outside without fifteen layers on and actually got to feel the sun on my back.
And it felt great.
Let’s hope that smile sticks around when this snow that they’re talking about hits us in the next few days….
