Fat Mogul vs. Friday

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of Friday…I mean, you know, not nearly as much as I was as a kid, but we’re still on pretty good terms.

Friday, in fact, is really all about hope, isn’t it?  I mean, it’s not like Friday is really all that different from Thursday, except for the fact that you won’t have to wake up for school/work/whatever on Saturday morning.  Of course, when you’re a parent, mornings still begin around the same time, no matter what day of the week it is, but then you get to just chill and watch some Saturday morning cartoons with the kids whilst sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

But that’s Saturday…the day where you recover from the bad choices you made on Friday night.  Those bad choices only being able to be made because you expect Saturday to exist to allow you to recover from them.

Friday is all about the idea that Saturday will be better.  TGIF is really just TGTIS (Thank God Tomorrow Is Saturday).  And that’s totally cool…but what if tomorrow doesn’t actually end up being Saturday?  What if you get a call saying you have to be in to work because something, I dunno, blew up in the septic system and if you don’t get in there and wade through the sewage to pull out the project you’ve been spending the last 3 months on, you’re SOL and, well, yeah, no one wants to be SOL standing in a pile of sewage.

Like I said above.  I like Fridays.  They’re the day  to dream about what the weekend will bring.  But, then again, I’m always dreaming about what the next day will bring…In fact, I rather like Wednesdays too…and Mondays come to think of it.  In fact, the only days I really despise are Tuesdays…and I don’t really have a good reason for that.

But today just so happens to actually BE Friday.  And tomorrow just so happens to be my wife’s birthday.  And that means celebrations are imminent (only sorta).  So, Thank God today IS Friday, because tomorrow my wife gets a little bit older (and then I can tell her to stop making fun of me for being so old, right?).

Happy Birthday G!  And happy Friday to the rest of you!

Have fun out there!
