It’s been a wild ten years. In fact, ten years ago today marks the beginning of a relationship that just doesn’t seem to want to end. I’m pretty happy with that. Although we had already spent over a week on the road together performing in the ill-fated Stuart Little, my wife and I didn’t start dating until a few weeks after, when I finally decided to throw caution to the wind and ask this fiery blonde to go on a date with me to the cheap theater with very little else intended after.
Looking back at the calendar, it looks like it was a Thursday, which surprises me…because Tuesday was the night I’d usually spend the big bucks on bringing a lady out on the town (because the cheap theater had discounted tickets on Tuesdays).
So, yeah, not a very amazing start to what has been a very amazing ten years.
But looking back from ten years in the future, it seems perfect. Ten years ago I had no interest in starting a real relationship, but found myself drawn to this girl who had the ability to get me free coffee (note the trend in cheapness here folks…I was broke). And with very little effort on either of our parts, things just meshed. And they continue to mesh today.
Sure, there’s tough times. Who doesn’t have tough times today (insert unconnected comment about politician from other party here). But at the end of the day, we still have that same chemistry we had ten years ago.
I pray it continues for another ten years…and beyond.
I know this is short…but I’m not so keen on the super mushy posts…and I’ve got a ton of editing to get done today.
Have fun out there!
