Been a crazy week in the Oster household these past 7 days. Our furnace has died twice and as of this writing, is in the midst of being given a new part that will hopefully cure its woes for a while, as well as cutting a few pounds off the ol’ bank account. This happened, of course, the same week in which our television decided to die. I’m not one to state that a television is necessary, by any means, but in the cold winter days we’re having. . . well, it can get a tad boring being stuck inside the house.
So, needless to say, money has been running away from our house quickly.
On the slightly brighter side, THE LEGEND OF BUDDY HERO is currently ranked #97 on authonomy.com and has yet to see the dreaded red arrow of doom (which would indicate its descent in the ranks). The praise this book is receiving is nothing less than spectacular and I can’t wait until I’m able to release its epic-ness upon the world in the coming months (date still TBD). If you’d like to be a part of the party on authonomy that’s helping Buddy reach the top spots, please sign up on authonomy and definitely let me know you’re around. There’s a few steps to take before your participation on the site actually does Buddy any good (all are free of charge, of course). And I’d love to show you a few of the other gems I’ve found on there that are well worth the read. . . and, of course, are completely free.
In other news, as stated yesterday, I’ve been wanting to develop a series of short stories for THE LEGEND OF BUDDY HERO to release as freebies in order to market the series a bit better. The first draft of the first of these stories was completed in a matter of hours yesterday, and although it needs some good revising love, I believe it’s quite a lot of fun, although taking a step away from the story of the book it’s based on. I’m hoping to get that into everyone’s hands before the end of the month. I’ve also been doing some research on getting some printed copies of this short piece available to hand out and have passed around. Looking promising.
In other (non-writing) news, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre production of HONK! is ramping up quite nicely. We’ve got about a week and a half before performances start up at The State Theatre here in Eau Claire. You should buy your tickets now, they’re going fast. And I promise you won’t be disappointed. At the very least, you’ll get to see yours truly making a total @$$ of himself over and over again.
And. . . I think that’s it. Things haven’t been incredibly awesome around here lately, but they’re starting to look up.
So, time to get back to it. I hope you all have a great one!
