School children singing, Pie Town, New Mexico ...

So, I’ve obviously been gone for a little while from updating this site for a while now.  The reason of which should be relatively obvious from my last few posts before disappearing.  I was busy being a father.  My little girl is almost 6 months old now, which seems like an awfully long time to have not spent any time on the site, but in life it has seemed to just fly past.  So, I thought that since my life has been pretty much completely relegated to being a father, I should spend a few minutes chatting about my thoughts about fatherhood.

The simple description of my thoughts is:  It’s pretty darn awesome.

I’ve really been enjoying my time with the little one.  It’s insane to see how quickly they mold into little humans and start doing all the things that little kids should be doing.  Right now she’s in the mode of wanting to grab at everything and put it in her mouth, which is pretty standard fair for little ones.  But I’m even more impressed at the amount of mimicking that happens even this young.  Already she wants to copy what I do at the computer, so, when I’ve got her on my lap while working, she needs to do some typing.  And then she knows that she needs to use the mouse as well.  Of course, her basic instincts take over with the mouse, and she just wants to toss it in her mouth.

It’s crazy! And I could go on for quite some time talking about it, and her.  However, instead, I will just say that I recommend that any and all of you have a couple, because they’re pretty darn sweet.

So, my current employer offers the opportunity to work from home.  For quite some time now I’ve been debating whether to go home, or stay in office.  Staying in office makes it much easier to be viewed as a possibility for promotions.  Going home allows the opportunity to hide quite a bit more from office politics.  I’ve decided I want to go home.
